Patrick Savage is currently principal first violin in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.

Patrick was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1976 and commenced violin lessons at the age of four. After his successful debut with orchestra in Melbourne in 1989, he became a regular on Australian stages, also featuring in numerous television and radio broadcasts.

During this time in Australia, and under the tutelage of Donald Scotts at the Victorian College of the Arts, he was the recipient of many awards including a scholarship to the Tanglewood Music Center, Massachusetts, in 1993. He was nominated several times for the Channel 10 Television National Young Achiever Awards for his musical accomplishments and charity work. An Australian violin, by Graham Caldersmith, was awarded to him as first prize in a national competition and one of his bows was first prize in another.

In 1994 Patrick received a fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, which enabled him to study with Dr Andrievsky at the Royal College of Music.

He graduated from the RCM with first class honours and many accolades including the inaugural Yehudi Menuhin Award and prizes from the Countess of Munster, Emily English, Martin and Ian Fleming Trusts. As a chamber musician he was a Leverhulme Fellow at the Royal Academy of music as leader of the Archinto String Quartet.
